A Tale of 3 Cities

first stop: Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

sunny 30 °C

June of last year, my friends and I dared to backpack across three Southeast Asian cities for almost two weeks. Aboard Air Asia where everyone can fly, we started our exciting adventure and headed out to our first destination: the capital of Sabah State, Kota Kinabalu or KK.

Sabah has been a very controversial island and was once the highlight of dispute between the Philippines and Malaysia. When we were there, we met a Filipino in almost every shop, corner, and establishment we visited. Most of them were born there, sharing both Malaysian and Filipino descent.

...sudah tiba! (finally arrived)

...the view from our hotel.

..the city side of the island.

..the beautiful sight while walking around.

...a really nice and huge mall.

..one of the things we shopped were trinkets.

...within metres of the city proper is the sea.

...Kota Kinabalu has a lot of beautiful ornaments for women who love to accessorize.

..Jesselton Point, kota Kinabalu's main port and its previous name, during the British colony. You can take the bus from the city proper and you'll get there in just 15-20 minutes.

...this is one of the boats we'll be riding to reach our next small destination, which I will talk about on my next post.

See you then!:-)
